Red de espacios públicos en el Centro Histórico de Ibarra, y rehabilitación de un bien inmueble patrimonial

Abstract

The final thesis consists in the creation of a network of public spaces in the historical center of Ibarra and the rehabilitation of an immovable property. The project is developed within the historic center of the city of Ibarra, refounded after the earthquake on August 16, 1868. The historic center retains its built style from the late nineteenth century until the early twentieth century, which is largely part conserved and the rest in recovery process (Rocha & Ponce, 2009). The historic center of the city of Ibarra presents public and historical spaces of great heritage value which are not linked; so they function in a segregated manner and have lost importance over the years; also lacks projects aimed at revitalizing the historic center of the city. The creation of a network of public spaces is proposed, which recovers and links the most representative public and historical spaces of the city used as anchor points: the Pedro Moncayo main square, the Boyacá square, the 9 de Octubre square (La Merced), Abdón Calderón square, the Francisco Calderón square, the corner of the coconut, the Gonzales Suárez square, Alejandro Pasquel Monge square (Obelisk); and in addition to this intervention, the restoration of an immovable property that forms part of the network of public spaces is proposed, by implementing a lodging facility that allows potentializing tourism, rescuing and revitalizing the historic center of the city. The work is developed in four chapters: foundation of the topic, theoretical framework, diagnosis and the proposal, which are detailed in the present work of titling.
