Casona de saberes ancestrales y temazcal como parte del circuito medicinal de saberes ancestrales Yaku - Mojanda

Abstract

This contribution made throughout different chapters shows the application of knowledge by the author in the career of Architecture at PUCE-SI. The presentation contains practical and theoretical references that are the result of a trajectory taken throughout all the academic terms. Hence, the final project aims to inherit all the required information for future generations, providing all the documentation and annexes for further studies. The project “CASONA DE SABERES ANCESTRALES Y TEMAZCAL COMO PARTE DEL CIRCUITO MEDICINAL YAKU-MOJANDA” was inspired by the necessity of taking care and preserving an ancestral place that is currently abandoned; through the development of a touristic circuit that respects nature and ancestral knowledge of the indigenous territories, and at the same time allows visitors to tour and appreciate the marvelous landscapes that Mojanda offers. The proposal focuses on abolishing the affectation caused by multiple threats within this vulnerable area. The purpose of this project consists of the appropriation by the inhabitants of the area, through activities that allow the preservation of species, regulated and controlled tourism; making Mojanda’s complex a touristic attraction where the most relevant aspects that enclose this place allowed to define the design guidelines and spaces required for a unique sensory experience, which was merged with the ancestral knowledge in sacred points by the Andean worldview within this place. Architecturally, the project follows technical and economic criteria that guarantee the feasibility of it, and at the same time cause the minimum impact within this site by using local materials which do not have any effect within this natural area.
