Abstract

The present degree project is elaborated in order to expose the development process of a functional proposal, which allows the recovery of a risked heritage of Ibarra city: the Yuyucocha Tourist Complex; through the implementation of a new functionality that carries with it the same current identity of the site. The new conception must, in turn, contribute to other social and urban problem of the city: the lack of spaces to release the urban daily life tensions, especially for the student and work environment. Both problems are complemented by defining the first singularity of the proposal as a functional re-conception in the current complex, which is focused on giving relief to the citizens overwhelmed by life in the city, using water to do so. In the first chapter of the document, the antecedents defining the main problem and its possibilities of solution in site are made known. General information about its location covering it from a general level to the particular, a brief review of the harmful situation evidenced in the study area, plus a historical description that highlights its importance in the historic context of its city. All information is put into testing by extracting the causes that lead to the general problem, as well as its effects; in order to define the architectural, spatial, urban and social possibilities of solving them. As a complement, we summarize an antecedent of the theoretical bases on which the proposal is based, topic that is expanded in the following chapter. The rationale of the subject is to break down the theoretical information under which the new functionality of the final proposal is based. Its basic architectural typology is defined as spa, respecting the social need for recreation by using water as a channel to satisfy it and thus preserve the essence of the current center. A transdisciplinary framework to justify the proposed identity for the new Yuyucocha holistic restoration complex, and thus ensure its effectiveness in resolving the situation that originated the present degree work. The third chapter shows some situational diagnoses about the current status of the Yuyucocha lot, its urban and social position in the urban environment; all this based on the data taken around the city and on the site. The information of the place begins treating the characteriza tions of the property, to obtain an analyzed physical space in which the design of the new complex will be implanted. The affected actors are beneficiaries, users or people in the range of target public of the problematic and of the proposal to conceive. The diagnosis is finalized by writing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses Opportunities, Threats) analysis and the conclusions reached by completing the processing of all the information. The fourth chapter is oriented to explain the development of the proposal as a process of spatial conception, based on the justified theories for its final result. From the concepts of distribution to the details that give comfort to the rooms are expressed graphically and arranged in an order that allows to appreciate it as a virtual tour of the project. The proposal constitutes the evidence on which success is verified in the fulfillment of the proposed objectives, being susceptible the evaluation of the results obtained as expected
