Resumen : One of the greatest challenges within Guinea Pig farming is to meet the market demands in that the carcasses must be in optimal conditions both in weight and presentation; This is mainly due to the guinea pig's nervous temperament when faced with stressful situations; Therefore, it was proposed to evaluate a new efficient and innovative management alternative that generates positive changes in guinea pig production. The practical development of the research was carried out in the Cayambe Canton of Pichincha province, its main objective was to determine the incidence of daylight and shadow hours in the feed conversion of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) by adapting specific environments in the fattening stage. A completely randomized design (DCA) was used, with three treatments and three repetitions each, 45 male guinea pigs were used from week 4-8 of life (fattening stage), which were distributed in 9 experimental units, same as They were made up of 5 animals each. The treatments differed from each other by the number of hours under the incidence of light. The variables that were evaluated were: feed consumption, weight gain and feed conversion. The results obtained showed that the best treatment was T1, so based on this criterion it was shown that prolonging the duration of light hours in the house does stimulate the Central Nervous System (CNS) of the guinea pig, causing the animal to consume more feed and reach its optimal slaughter weight in less time, thus reflecting obtaining a positive impact on its feed conversion and confirming at the same time that the present research provides a viable and effective alternative to improve guinea pig management and reduce production costs, both for small and large producers.
