Abstract: This study was conducted at the La Granja farm; Upper Florida Community, El Carmelo Parish, Tulcán Canton, Carchi Province. The objective of this research was to evaluate the use of fossilized algae, on the yield and nutritive value of the perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne). A completely randomized block design (DBCA) with 5 treatments and three repetitions was used. Treatments were T1 Low dose 5kg of fossilized algae / ha + 2Tn / ha of agricultural Cal, T2 Average dose 10kg of fossilized algae / ha + 2Tn / ha of agricultural Cal, T3 High doses 15kg of fossilized algae / ha + 2Tn / ha of Agricultural Lime, T4 with 2Tn / ha of Agricultural Lime, T5 Witnes. Three cuts were made since the Rye grass reaches its highest potential of available nutrient reserves, where the variables were evaluated: yield of green matter, percentage of dry matter, days to cut, length of root, percentage of protein, energy Mcal / kg, percentage of fiber, ppm content of Ca, P, Mg. The cuts were made when the plant reached three leaves. The best treatment for green matter yield is T3, which in the first cut was 2.01kg / m2 in the second cut 2.10kg / m2 and in the third cut 1.9kg / m2. For days to cut the best treatments are T1, T2 and T3 the grass reached the third leaf in the first cut at 58 days, in the second cut at 25 days and in the third cut at 30 days. The best treatment for root length was T3, which in the first cut obtained a root length of 13.63cm, in the second cut 16,7cm and in the third cut 20.6cm. For the percentage of protein, the best treatment was T3, obtaining 20.01% in the first cut, 19.23% in the second cut, and 17.85% in the third cut. For the fiber percentage variable, the best treatment was T4, which in the first cut obtained 23.44%, in the second cut, 19.23% and in the third cut. For the content ppm of Ca the best treatment was the T3 obtaining in the first cut 50ppm, in the second cut 50,66ppm and in the third cut 48,66ppm. For the P ppm content, the best treatment was the same T3 that in the first cut obtained 320ppm, in second cut 331.5ppm and in the third cut 313.1ppm. For the Mg ppm content, the treatment with the best results is T3, which in the first cut obtained 17.76ppm, in the second cut 18.13ppm and in the third cut 17.93ppm. For the variables energy and percentage of dry matter, the data obtained from the investigation do not show statistically significant differences.
Description: Este estudio se lo realizó en la finca La Granja; comunidad Florida Alta, Parroquia El Carmelo Cantón Tulcán, Provincia del Carchi.
