Abstract: This study shows an analys is of the last decade, about the participation of the indigenous community in the process of communication existing in Cayambe, focusing the specific interest on Ecos Radio of Cayambe. The general objective of this study is identify the participation of the indigenous community for the awareness of Kayambi's culture by a mixed design of qualitative and quantitative investigation in the radial medium of Cayambe. The principal method is the analysis, althought the chosen of the population and sample, and correspondent tools. The interest for the actually topic arise from the root that the radio station constitutes nowadays in one of the most important opcions in broadcasting to promote the development of the activities of Kayambi's culture, but the administration of it self offers a limited space, really null, to the assessment of the refered culture. That's why, it applies the theorical revision of previously investigations about the popular communication, educational communication, popular radio, alternative broadcasting, about the indigenous culture with special interest on the chosen one for the studying. Stand out the characteristics of Kayambi's culture, their values, sistems of organization and other own traits. Also it shows a synthesis of the broadcasting, and the radiophonic genres, with that expose the connection of the study variables. With the defined theoric elements, develops the description of the material and methods, and it last application that generates the results and discussion. Description: En este estudio se presenta un análisis en la última década, sobre la participación de la comunidad indígena en los procesos de comunicación existentes en Cayambe, centrando el interés específico en Radio Ecos de Cayambe. El objetivo general de este estudio es Identificar la participación de la comunidad indígena para la concienciación de la cultura Kayambi a través de un diseño mixto de investigación cualitativo y cuantitativo en los medios radiales de Cayambe. El método principal es el análisis, así como la selección de la población y muestra, y los instrumentos correspondientes. El interés por el presente tema surge a raíz de que esta radioemisora se constituye actualmente en una de las opciones en radiodifusión más importantes para promover el desarrollo de las actividades de la cultura Kayambi, pero la administración de la misma brinda un espacio limitado, casi nulo, a la valoración de la referida cultura. Por ello, se aplica la revisión teórica de investigaciones previas sobre comunicación popular, comunicación educativa, radio popular, radiodifusión alternativa, sobre las culturas indígenas, con especial interés en la seleccionada para el estudio. Resaltan las características de la cultura Kayambi, sus valores, sistemas de organización y otros rasgos propios. Además, se presenta una síntesis de la radiodifusión y los géneros radiofónicos, con los que se plantea la conexión de las variables del estudio. Con estos elementos teóricos definidos, se desarrolla la descripción de los materiales y métodos, y su posterior aplicación que genera los resultados y discusión.
